What is the yacht upholstery design process like with your team?

Our yacht upholstery design process starts with an onboard visit to find out exactly what you want. At that time, we take the opportunity to show you samples of all our materials, so you can choose the most appropriate one for your yacht. Throughout the meeting, we will review thoroughly, advise you on materials and designs (if you wish), discuss all the issues to be addressed, and provide you with a customized, item-by-item quotation.

Can you copy an old canvas to make a new one?

When taking measurements for any interior or exterior upholstery, we prefer to start from scratch when designing the pattern, avoiding copying an old cover, as they tend to shrink and deform over time, which means that the new one will not fit or be as perfect as it should. The only case in which we allow ourselves to make a copy is if the cover is new (less than 6 months old) and you want to make it new to improve the quality of the material or bindings.

What foams are used for exterior upholstery?

In the case of interior upholstery, the most commonly used material is open-cell foam, which allows water to drain away quickly and which has also been given a fungicide treatment to prevent it from being damaged by the appearance of bacteria due to constant contact with water and the elements. This type of foam can also be used for interior upholstery, ensuring comfort in all areas of the yacht.

It is also possible to upholster interiors and exteriors with closed-cell foam, which is also water-repellent and whose main difference is that it is much harder. We usually use a combination of both (open + closed) to gain hardness in the upholstery without sacrificing comfort and ensuring that there is no water absorption.
